Good luck to Telemarketing apprentice Matthew Lee, who has won his way through to the finals of Apprentice of the Year at the Portsmouth News Business Excellence Awards at the City’s Guildhall in February.

The 17-year-old, of Rowlands Castle, was nominated for consistently excelling himself in creating new employment opportunities for other apprentices.

He was one of around 80 apprentices put forward and is now through to the final six.

“I’m looking forward to it, it will be a good night,” he said.

Since joining the Highbury team as Contact Centre Operations Level 3 Apprentice seven months ago, Matthew has been responsible for contacting employers to promote opportunities for other apprentices to progress within their chosen careers.

As well as constantly exceeding all his targets, he’s also been involved in the recruitment process, working alongside business advisors and attending pre-selection interviews with the young hopefuls.

“Matthew is an inspirational role model for apprentices all over the south and he has been a real asset to the telemarketing team at Highbury College as well as the local community in Portsmouth and its surrounding areas,” said Telemarketing Manager Jade Davies.
