SHINE BRIGHT LEARN MORE, EARN MORE

The Southern Universities Network (SUN) is a collaborative group of Universities in Hampshire, Dorset and the Isle of Wight and provides outreach activities for schools and colleges as part of the National Collaborative Outreach Programme (NCOP), which aims is to increase Higher Education participation from young people in the local area.

Highbury & SUN working together

We are working to raise awareness of Higher Education by offering students opportunities to experience universities, apprenticeships and further study events. If you get involved in the project you will be given a handy pack with a few helpful goodies to help you along your way and through the journey we hope to help you achieve your best!

We are keen to make students and parents aware of the fantastic new ‘alternative routes’ into Higher Education such as Higher and even Degree Apprenticeships. For example did you know that you can now achieve a full degree and professional accreditation without the fee’s, whilst working and getting paid?

You can apply for Higher and Degree Apprenticeships through College and University websites and also through the link below.

What our students say about apprenticeships at Highbury

"“While completing my Level 3 Diploma at Highbury, I did a two-weeks work placement with Midas which resulted in me starting an apprenticeship with them. I have already finished my Level 4 HNC Diploma in the built environment and I am currently working towards my Level 5 HND. I am really enjoying working in the industry and would recommend an apprenticeship to anyone.”

Josh Burns | Level 5 Apprentice with Midas Group

What our students say about apprenticeships at Highbury

"I had the choice of going to university or becoming an apprentice and I didn’t want to get into lots of debt by going to university. When I found out you could do an apprenticeship in accounting and get experience while learning I was keen to do that. The AAT is a very well-known accreditation so it was a good choice to go with them.”

Luke Perman | Level 4 Apprentice with Easy Networks Ltd

What our students say about apprenticeships at Highbury

"I picked an apprenticeship so I can work and get experience while earning money making a career for myself and still having time with my daughter. I enjoy plenty of things about my apprenticeship. In my workplace, everyone is super friendly and we all get along really well. My tutor always makes lessons fun and interesting, he's great at reassuring us when we have exams and providing a stress free atmosphere about the course. ”

Aimee Kerr | Level 3 Apprentice with Toolkit Websites Ltd
