Highbury Campus, Cosham, has fantastic facilities and travel links, and a number of bus stops are nearby along withy Cosham train station being only a short walk away.
There’s many years of knowledge within the teaching team. Our industry experience covers the airline, cruise, retail travel, tour operations and visitor attraction sectors of the industry. Plus we have worked in recruitment and we can give you the handy hints and tips to get the best jobs in the Leisure, Travel & Tourism industry.
Each course will have specific visits that relate to the units you study ranging from assessing the accessibility of Brighton as a destination or visiting Royal Caribbean for a talk on the cruise industry.
We hold regular Student Focus Groups which provide a platform for students to share ideas, comments and suggestions. There’s also Student Satisfaction Surveys throughout the year. The Leisure, Travel & Tourism team is proud to have a very high percentage of positive feedback from students.
Each year, our students get to work alongside some of the most dedicated staff in world famous organisations. Thomas Cook, Thomson, Brittany Ferries, Marriot, Holiday Inn, Mary Rose Museum, Portsmouth Guildhall, Flybe and so many more welcome and train our students while they’re still at college to make sure they’re aiming high and achieving well.
Our high success rates lead to progression to other courses within the department, university or employment with national and international businesses.
Highbury College is partnered with Portsmouth International Port, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard and EXPLORE Adventure Travel Experts.
These organisations work closely with us for visits, assignment workshops and industry insights. In addition we also have strong links with various airlines, cruise companies and hotels.
Our courses range from Level 2 and Level 3, plus we have great links with universities. The team will support you throughout your time at Highbury College and encourage progression and development.
In recent years our students have secured jobs including Cabin Crew for Emirates, Virgin Atlantic and British Airways, Visitor Attraction Hosts at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, Overseas Resort Reps for Thomson and Thomas Cook, Passenger Services Agents and even a Duty Manager at Brittany Ferries.

Starting salaries for air cabin crew are around £13,000, senior cabin crew can earn up to £25,000 and an experienced resort representative manager can earn £16,000 a year or more.
