Advanced Learner Loan

Advanced Learner Loans are similar to Higher Education loans. These loans are available to students aged 19 and over, studying at Level 3 or Level 4, including QCF Certificates and Diplomas and Access to HE Courses.

You can apply for a loan to meet the upfront costs of your qualification which will be paid directly to the College on your behalf. For more information speak to our Student Services Team on 023 9238 3131 or visit the following website:

Do I qualify? 

To qualify you must be:  

  • Aged 19 or over on the first day of your course (there’s no upper age-limit) 
  • Living in the UK on the first day of your course and have lived in the UK, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man for 3 years immediately before this
  • Studying with a college or training organisation in England approved for public funding
  • Enrolling on an eligible course at level 3 and above which includes: A levels, Access to HE Diplomas, other Diplomas and Certificates 

How to Apply? 

If you make the decision to take an Advanced Learner Loan, then you can apply either online here or via a paper-based application. You can print this paper application off from the website or obtain it from Student Services.

Which courses are eligible for an Advanced Learner Loan?

Depending on your age and circumstances, most Level 3/4 courses are eligible but please check with our advice team before applying.
