The University recognises undergraduates who excel in their Level 3 college qualification, including Ellie who achieved a triple distinction grade (D*DD) in her Level 3 Extended Diploma in Travel & Tourism last year.
After accepting an unconditional offer last summer, Ellie is currently working towards a degree in International Tourism Management and credits Highbury’s tutors for igniting her passion for the industry.
The 19-year-old said: “The course tutors had such a large impact on my grades due to their dedication, fun approach and their overall motivation that I can do and achieve better!”
She added: “My advice to people thinking of studying travel and tourism at college is to just do it! The course isn’t just limited to travel and tourism and dips into many other sectors and teaches you many transferable skills.
“I’d recommend Highbury as from my experience I believe it’s a college that pushes you to achieve your potential.
“I’m so proud of my achievements and would like to thank Solent University for this amazing scholarship.”
Ellie will be putting the scholarship towards supporting her studies and is planning to study abroad - hopefully for a year in Canada.
Travel & Tourism Tutor Amy Benham said: “Ellie worked really hard to achieve her fantastic grades and it is so wonderful to see that her hard work during her time at Highbury has been rewarded at university. We are very proud of all that she has achieved and I’m confident she will continue to shine in whatever adventure she embarks on next. Well done Ellie!”
