The group of Level 3 Diploma in Public Services and Level 3 Extended Diploma in Public Services students joined their tutor in a virtual lesson to learn more about Victory in Europe Day, celebrated on 8th May 1945.
The lesson explored the similarities between how the British public worked together against the threat of the Blitz and Coronavirus pandemic.
They also looked into the history of Second World War, including the sacrifices made by soldiers and civilians and the continued fight until Victory over Japan Day.
Lecturer in Public Services Jack Lee said: “The sacrifice that was made by many was huge, and the public at home had to go through worse than what we’re going through now, and yet they managed to carry on. It’s so important for our students to remember the past and learn about their courage and determination. It was great to see them get involved and show their respect despite current social distancing measures. Well done everybody.”
