The 18-year-old, who hopes to study at Cambridge University, said: “It feels good to win because it’s something to be proud of - it’s an achievement. Competitions give you something to aspire to as there are no exams at AS Level. For me it’ll be also be advantageous when included in my applications to university. Science is something I’ve been interested in since I was young. I like finding out about the world around me and what causes things to behave the way they do.”

The former Hayling College student is currently studying Chemistry, Biology and Physics at A Level.

He added: “I enjoy studying at Highbury because I like the independence you have. I can look up something that’s not in the syllabus and then use it in class.”
