Competition is heating up as hairdressing and beauty students battle to take part in the finals later this month.

The Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy Heats - Passion for Portsmouth took place at Highbury Campus fromMonday 23rd April to Friday 27th May.

The theme of this year's competition is Portsmouth attractions and judges included Chaniece Alderton-Collins from hair salon Molly Caswell and former College apprentice and owner of hair salon The Parlour, Jess Davey.

The finalists from each category are now preparing for the main show, which will take place in the Performance Theatre at Highbury College on Monday 21st May.

Hairdressing lecturer Lyndsey McKenna said: "Competitions are excellent opportunities for our students to show off their innovative and creative hairdressing skills. It's also a great way for them to build resilience and help develop sportsmanship abilities. We love celebrating our students' successes and events like this really show how far they've come and what they've achieved. We also think it's a fantastic way for our students to showcase their skills to friends and family."
