Students gave Santa a helping hand by bringing some Christmas cheer to patients spending Christmas in hospital.

The team of future nurses and health care workers volunteered to spend the first day of their festive break handing out presents to elderly patients at Portsmouth’s Queen Alexandra Hospital.

The nurse cadets and health and social care students collected more than 100 gifts for the patients who may be spending Christmas at QA.

The gifts which included sweets, toiletries and puzzle books, were bought by students, staff and their friends and family as well as teams from St Mary’s and St James’ hospitals in Portsmouth.

This is just one of the ways that Highbury College students gain real world experience while making a difference to their community.
