Highbury College is celebrating the success of William Murphy, who has been voted IT Apprentice of the Year at the UK IT Industry Awards 2016, held at Battersea Park in London. The awards recognise IT excellence in the UK IT Industry and act as a benchmark for outstanding performance throughout the UK computer industry.

The firework-fuelled event, hosted by comedian Josh Widdecombe highlighted the individuals, projects, organisations and technologies that have excelled in the use, development and deployment of IT in the past 12 months.

William shone out in the Personal Excellence category with his hard work and dedication carrying him through to the top spot. William is currently completing his apprenticeship qualification in Software Security at IBM Portsmouth and is on-track to pass with flying colours.

William said: ‘The event was massive, the stage was huge and we had a three-course meal. It was unexpected, but a really cool thing to win. It is nice to get recognition outside of my IBM project’.
