The College currently has 889 apprentices on a total of 58 apprenticeship programmes, a 17% increase compared to the same time last year. The programmes available are as diverse as beauty therapy to brickwork, digital design to dental nursing.
And with the government keen to promote apprenticeships and more and more employers choosing to recruit them, we’re expecting to have around 1,000 apprentices on board by the end of the year.
Some of the high-profile companies who already choose to send their apprentices to Highbury include Lockheed Martin, BAE, IBM, Canon UK, Airbus, Rolls Royce and Ben Ainslie Racing.
They benefit from our world-class facilities, expert tuition and dedicated business support to help them source the right apprentice and the most suitable training programme to fit their needs.
The apprentices themselves benefit from earning a wage, training alongside experienced staff, achieving qualifications, learning job-specific skills, and boosting their future job prospects.
Apprenticeships follow a structured programme that leads to recognised qualifications and an overall Apprenticeship Framework Certificate. They generally take between one and three years to complete, depending on the sector. They can be taken at three levels: Intermediate (Level 2), Advanced (Level 3) and Higher (Level 4/5).
The high standard of training is reflected in the fact that many of our apprentices pick up National Apprenticeship Awards both regionally and nationally.
