As well as gaining valuable qualifications, studying at Highbury is about developing new interests, making new friends and having fun.

We want you to enjoy every aspect of your student life at College. There’s always something going on at Highbury and plenty of activities and opportunities for you to socialise and meet up with your friends, either between classes or in your free time.

Students’ Union

Join our Students’ Union and you will benefit from free services and social activities including sports, trips, clubs and societies, as well as discounts in stores and leisure outlets. In addition to helping you make the most of your time at Highbury, the Students’ Union plays an important role in representing international students at the College.

Day Trips

A variety of trips are arranged each year to widen your experience of the UK and get the most from British culture – recent visits have been to Stonehenge, Bath, Cardiff and Arundel. You could also take part in trips to theme parks, exhibitions and visits to employers.

Social Events

Each year we organise a calendar of events for international students, including barbecues, cinema nights and dancing. A number of annual shows take place throughout the year, including our popular Art & Design and Fashion Shows. Another important event is the Celebration of Achievement in July, when students put on traditional gowns and mortar boards to collect their certificates.

Sports and Fitness

If you want to keep fit or play sports, join our Sports Centre. Facilities include a sports hall, and fitness and dance studios. A number of clubs run regularly including badminton, basketball and 5-a-side football (soccer). Regular classes include roller-skating, martial arts and Zumba.

Food & Drink

Highbury’s cafeterias provide a tempting choice of food and drink throughout the day. Students can visit The Galley, Highbury Campus, for breakfasts, lunches and hot & cold snacks including Fairtrade products and healthy eating options. You can also buy light bites, snacks, confectionery and hot and cold drinks. The Atrium at Highbury City of Portsmouth Centre (HCPC) is a light and relaxing area serving a varied menu of hot and cold food. Chimes, at HCPC, is the College’s high quality restaurant operated by students in training, many of whom go on to work at some of the best restaurants and hotels in the world.

"The college has superb technology so many computers and big libraries which students can go to find reference books for their studding. Classes are interactive, you can discuss and talk about your ideas with teachers and students which can really enhance analytical thinking. I live in the tower and there are great facilities, like free Wi-Fi. Students have their privacy and independence but most importantly feel safe."

"For me, the strength of the college lies with the classes which are kept small and taught by very proficient teachers who are always willing to help the students.
A big group of internati onal students are present at the college which makes the learning environment amazing. Highbury is also supported by its great facilities and their long opening hours."
