Our programmes for students with learning difficulties and disabilities focus on what you can achieve and will improve your confidence and life chances. Our students learn by doing. Real life activities include working within our own enterprises, becoming independent travellers and gaining employability skills through our partnerships with local employers.
Our students succeed at an amazing pace and gain the skills and confidence to move on to interesting lives outside the College. Programmes run over four days a week.
While on the programme you’ll learn the skills, knowledge and positive attitudes necessary to live with increased independence, such as shopping and household management, budgeting your money, healthy eating, using public transport and looking after yourself. You’ll also learn the skills that will help you to find work in the future such as timekeeping, following instructions, working with others in a team and independently to solve problems in a safe and effective manner.
Many of our students progress to mainstream professional courses at Highbury College and throughout the year have the opportunity to operate in different environments to test their ability and future commitment - areas include hospitality & catering, hairdressing & beauty therapy, carpentry, painting & decorating, retail & customer service and office skills.
