We run Level 1,2 and 3 study programmes allowing you to develop your skills and techniques and set you on the path towards a career in the arts.
Our Level 1 and 2 UAL Diplomas are designed for students to build onto skills that have been learnt and help them to develop techniques, methods and knowledge to a higher level and in preparation for becoming a professional artist within the Creative Industry. The courses include a range of techniques, including drawing, painting, 3D, 4D and contextual studies. These are built within projects which are often linked to the local community and will include work experience as well. This year we have worked with Hilsea Lido creating new large panels for the walls of the Lido. (See photographs). We also go on trips to Art Galleries and events depending on what projects are being taught and what exhibitions are on.
On our Level 3 Art and Design course you can further develop your skills and learn new techniques. You will work on exciting live project briefs, starting with skills building workshops, allowing you to develop an impressive range of technical skills including printmaking, sculpture, dark room processes, digital skills, traditional skills and more. You will also focus on different areas such as illustration & graphic design, time-based media (photography/animation), working for a client and Fine Art. We have worked on variety of ‘live’ projects over the years, designing sets for the Royal Opera House Design Challenge, creating surface pattern designs for Mottisfont Abbey, (National Trust) and most recently creating artworks to go in the Village Hotel’s gym.
Students on all levels regularly go on trips to aid your study, this year we’ve been to Southampton City Gallery, we’ve met and interviewed MyDogSighs whilst he was painting a mural at the Village Hotel, we’ve been to Oxford to the Pitt Rivers Museum and to Modern Art Oxford to see an exhibition. We’ve visited Arts University Bournemouth for a tour and a life drawing session, and we also visited University of Chichester for a sculpture workshop where our students tried spot welding!
