Ideal for aspiring professionals taking their first step into line management, such as team leaders or supervisors, or those with some experience of managing a team or project to deliver clearly defined outcomes. Team leaders need to be capable of accessing and applying a range of techniques and behaviours in order to ensure their team meets organisational objectives.
This programme has been developed in line with the latest management standards to support learners undertaking the Team Leader/Supervisor apprenticeship. This qualification maps fully to the ‘on programme’ elements of the Team Leader/Supervisor Apprenticeship Standard. Incorporated into the programme is the Level 3 Diploma for Managers qualification, accredited by ILM (Institute of Leadership & Management).

Team Leaders support the organisation by leading individuals and teams in order to achieve realisation of organisational objectives. Effective team leaders need to have an understanding of
leading individuals and teams:
- Managing teams and tasks
- Building and maintaining professional relationships
- Effective communication methods and when to apply them
- Operational management
- Management of workplace projects
- Finance and budgeting
- Solving problems
- Decision making techniques
- Managing oneself
The formal training is scheduled in four blocks throughout the year, with each block being five weeks in duration. During formal training blocks, training takes place every Wednesday from 9am to 5pm. The programme runs for 13-16 months in total, with a break between Modules to allow practice of the theory and development of skills. Attendance at every module is mandatory.
When the apprentice is not attending the College it is expected that the employer will provide time off the job to undertake tasks and activities that continue the development of the skills and behavours of the apprentice.
Students will be taught using our virtual classroom platform (VCP). This platform gives access to live classrooms and fully functional virtual environments with the freedom to attend from anywhere that has a suitable internet connection. It is important that apprentices are able to access an appropriate study environment, away from their usual work desk. Having access to a head-set microphone is also a great advantage and allows more beneficial interaction with both the trainer and student group

As part of this programme, Apprentices will have regular reviews with an appointed workplace assessor. These reviews are critical to ensuring apprentices are progressing with their programme and are being supported appropriately in the workplace.

Apprentices will need to successfully complete two exams as well as an End Point Assessment (EPA), with achievement being graded as a Pass (60%), Merit (76%) or Distinction (86%). The EPA is based upon:

- Knowledge Test using scenarios and questions - Knowledge of leading people, project management, managing people, communication, building relationships, operational management, finance (30% Weighting)

- Structured competency based interview - Knowledge and application of learning relating to leading people, managing people, building relationships, communication, operational management, project management, finance (30% Weighting)

- A portfolio of evidence - Application of knowledge and demonstration of skills and behaviours relating to leading people, managing people, building relationships, communication, operational management, project management, finance, self-awareness, management of self, decision making, taking responsibility, inclusivity, being agile, professionalism. The assessor will evaluate competence, utilising the portfolio of evidence to test actual understanding and maintain a consistent evaluation (20% Weighting)

- Professional discussion relating to CPD activity – Evidence of CPD (20% Weighting)
Upon successful completion of this programme, apprentices will achieve the Level 3 Team Leader / Supervisor and gain the internationally recognised Level 3 ILM Diploma for Managers.
In order to join this programme, you will need 5 GCSEs Grade A-C which must include English Language and Maths. You also need to be in a role that involves leading a team in order to achieve organisational or project objectives.
Students who complete this programme can progress to:
- Level 4 Apprenticeship in Associate Project Manager
