A variety of teaching approaches are used: lectures, seminars, workshops, discussion, pair/group work, video and computer sessions. Each trainee is assessed on six hours of practical teaching. Six hours of classroom observation of experienced ESOL and EFL teachers is also included. At least 50 hours of self-study is expected for reading, assignments and planning.
There is continuous assessment on the trainee’s teaching skills (at two different levels) and ability to plan lessons. There are also four written assignments focusing on language awareness, the individual student, skills development and your experience in the classroom.
