Our first-step animal care courses are ideal for those who wish to progress to higher vocational study.
Based at our Highbury Campus, in Cosham, you will develop your skills and experience with a range of small animals, including rabbits, chinchillas and reptiles. As well as enjoying a range of practical and theory-based tasks on your course, you will also benefit from visits to zoos and wildlife centres.
Throughout the year, you will also benefit from a wide range of specialist visitors, including dog handlers and falconers.
There are many career opportunities for people with qualifications in animal care or animal management. Options include: zoo keeping, veterinary nurse/assistant, kennel technician, dog groomer, pet shop/retail or equine management pathways.
You could also work at animal rescue centres and animal sanctuaries or as an animal welfare assistant for a charity, such as the Blue Cross or the RSPCA.
