Highbury’s fabulous animal care facilities at Staunton Country Park give you plenty of opportunity for hands-on experience with farm animals, small mammals, reptiles, birds, and fish.

Whether you're an aspiring vet or looking to develop the skills and knowledge you need to work with animals, we offer practical animal care courses from Level 1 to Level 3. Our qualifications are accredited by the National Proficiency Tests Council (NPTC), one of the most widely recognised training schemes for land-based studies.

You’ll learn about animal management, including animal health checks from deer to harvest mice, how to create suitable enclosures and maintaining a working farm environment. You’ll get hands-on experience at Staunton Country Park and Farm, with dedicated facilities for theory-based learning too, and you’ll be taught by experienced veterinary nurses and large animal specialists.

You’ll also benefit from visits to zoos and wildlife centres, and may even have a chance to work with animals in Africa. All students are required to undertake weekly work experience as well as working at Staunton Country Park, with work experience being tailored to individual career aspirations.
