Our Access courses are specifically designed for students aged 19+ who are preparing for higher education.

Students from Highbury’s one-year Access to Higher Education courses have progressed to universities both locally and throughout the country. They include Oxford and Cambridge, Brighton, Edinburgh, London SOAS, Manchester, Southampton, Sussex, Warwick, Winchester and York as well as the nearby Universities of Chichester and Portsmouth.

The Access to Higher Education Diploma is a Level 3 qualification and offers a range of pathways that could lead to a degree of your choosing, such as Business-related degrees, Engineering, Pharmacy, Biological and Biomedical Sciences, Nutrition, Social Work, Health related degrees and Humanities degrees.

Note to prospective Access students

You are entitled to full fee remission if the following applies to you:

  • Not in education, employment or training and in receipt of Job Seekers Allowance or Employment Support Allowance (WRAG).
  • Unemployed and in receipt of a state benefit.
  • Aged 19 – 23 and studying your first full Level 3 qualification.
  • Aged 23+ - find out more about the 24+ advanced learning loan here.

Applicants who take out the 24+ advanced learning loan need pay nothing upfront. The loan is paid off once you complete your Higher Education course and are earning more than £21,000 per year. More information about Student Finance can be found here.
