Who is the training for?

This course is aimed at skilled plumbers or multi-skilled workers who have solid experience in plumbing / heating engineering and would like to invest in this lucrative and growing new market.

What does the training include?

The training combines two units: Solar Domestic Hot Water Installation and Solar Domestic Hot Water Maintenance, which can be taken separately or combined. In summary, the training includes:

  • Introduction to solar heating
  • Install, commission and handover new solar thermal hot water systems
  • Install, commission and handover existing solar thermal hot water systems
  • Inspect, service and maintain new solar thermal hot water systems Inspect, service and maintain existing solar thermal hot water systems

Entry requirements

  • An N/SVQ Level 2/3 in either Plumbing, or Heating & Ventilating, or Oil-fired Technical Services, or Gas Installation & Maintenance or equivalent earlier certification

In addition, if not included in the above, current certification in relation to:

  • Water Regulations/Water Byelaws (WRAS or equivalent)
  • Unvented Domestic Hot Water Storage Systems
  • Energy Efficiency for Domestic Heating (C&G 6084 or equivalent)
  • Renewable Energy Awareness Certificate

If you do not currently satisfy the entry requirements for this course, Highbury College can provide you with the training to get you to this stage.

Cost

Assessment only (2 days): £326 per person + £67 registration.
Top up training and assessment (3 days): £490 per person + £67 registration.
Full training and assessment (4 days) £625.50 per person + £84 registration.
